What to expect
In this expansion, building shipping routes to different islands plays a major role. Ships cost 1 wood and 1 wool each, and their rules are a lot like building streets. In most scenarios, the players get bonus points for building settlements on other islands, which gives them a lot of motivation to form ship routes. Scenarios vary from fixed playing fields to explorations where the players only find out where the different islands are during the game. Furthermore, the riverbed is introduced, where gold can be found. Players with a settlement on this tile receive a resource card of their choice. The rules of the game are almost identical to those of the base game with additional rules for ship routes, victory point tokens, gold tiles and the pirate. The sailors of Catan takes the base game to a completely new dimension and offers infinite variety. A must for players seeking a new challenge on Catan!
